Villarreal – Real Madrid

Villarreal hosts Real Madrid in one of the most interesting games from the third round of La Liga. These two teams will meet at the Estadio de la Ceramica on Sunday. Let’s take a good look at this fixture.

Villarreal didn’t start the new season in the best way possible, winning just one point from the first two rounds. The Yellow Submarine scored a dramatic 4-4 draw against Granada in the first round, while in the second one Javi Calleja’s boys suffered a defeat against Levante.

Gerard Moreno put Villarreal ahead against Levante, but the hosts managed to turn the game around in their favour. For just five minutes of time Roger Marti scored two penalties after the halftime break, beating Andres Fernandez on both occasions. For Villarreal it was dissapointing to lose the game because of two penalties, but it is what it is.

Last season was difficult for Villarreal as the club barely saved itself from relegation. It seems that this campaign is going to be tough for the Yellow Submarine once again. They need as much points as they can win.

Real Madrid kicked off their campaign with a nice win over Celta in Vigo, but in the second round Los Blancos made their first mistake for the season. Zinedine Zidane’s boys hosted Real Valladolid at the Bernabeu, but the game surprisingly ended with a 1-1 draw.

The fans in Madrid had to wait for the 82th minute to see their boys opening the score. Karim Benzema recieved an assist from Raphael Varane and beat Jordi Masip. Everything went wrong for Real Madrid six minutes later when Valladolid’s Sergi Guardiola equalised.

Everyone at Real Madrid is aware that what happened against Real Valladolid was dissapointing. Now against Villarreal Los Blancos will try get back on the winning road. But will the hosts allow it?
