Southampton – Chelsea
Southampton hosts Chelsea at the St. Mary’s on Saturday in a match from the 25th round of the Premier League. Let us give you a proper review of this game in the next few paragraphs.
The Saints were enjoying a solid season until recently, but they are in a very negative run of five consecutive losses in the league. Because of this decrease in their performance Southampton are now 13th in the standings with 29 points – they lost their place in the Top 10.
In their last game Ralph Hassenhuttl’s boys faced Wolverhampton Wanderers at home, but suffered a 1-2 defeat against the Wolves. Danny Ings opened the score for Southampton, but in the second half Wolverhampton scored twice and took the win.
Ralph Hassenhuttl has some missing players at the moment. Theo Walcott, Ibrahima Diallo, William Smallbone and Michael Obafemi are sidelined with injuries.
Chelsea are now doing extremely good under their new manager Thomas Tuchel. The German coach debuted with a draw for the Blues, but now Chelsea are enjoying a run of four consecutive wins in the Premier League. This allowed them to come back to Top 4 – the Londoners are now 4th with 42 points. They are once again in contention for a return to the Champions League next season.
In their last game the Blues recorded their 12th win for the season. Chelsea faced Newcastle United at the Stamford Bridge and enjoyed a 2-0 win. Olivier Giroud and Timo Werner scored for the winning side in the first half of the game.
