Sevilla – Manchester United

Sevilla welcomes Manchester United in a first 1/8-finals game from the Champions League. The clash is going to be played at Wednesday night at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in the city of Sevilla.

Sevilla reached the 1/8-finals of the competition after finishing second in group E. The Spanish team won 9 points with 2 wins, 3 draws and 1 loss. Sevilla finished second after another English team – Liverpool. In the two matches against the Reds Sevilla made two draws.

It is a turbulent season for the Rojiblancos so far. They made a managerial change at the club, sacking Eduardo Berizzo and replacing him with Vincenzo Montella. Sevilla already reached the final of the Copa del Rey, but you can be sure that they will give their all to reach the Champions League 1/4-finals as well.

But it won’t be easy against Manchester United.

The Champions League is going to be very important for the Red Devils this season. They are trailing on too many points behind Manchester City in the Premier League, so the CL is their chance of redemption. And the manager Jose Mourinho knows it very well.

In the group stage United won Group A, facing no problems against Basel, CSKA Moscow and Benfica. Manchester United ended their participation with five wins and just one loss – against Basel on Swiss soil. They showed a solid domination during the group stage and now they will try to continue with this performance in the knockout phase as well.

It’s clear that Manchester United are the big favourites here. The English club have a very expensive squad, filled with great players. And they have a great manager as well. But Sevilla are a very dangerous team, so they shall not be underrestimated – not at all.
