Sampdoria – Juventus

Sampdoria faces the champion Juventus at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris in a match from the 17th week of the Serie A.

Juventus are still second in the Calcio standings, which is probably not something they like very much. The good news are that the Old Lady reduced to zero their two points gap behind the leader Inter Milan. In the previous round Juve celebrated a win over Udinese at home, while the Nerazzuri made a wrong step against Fiorentina at the Artemio Franchi.

It was a solid performance by Juventus against Udinese on Sunday. At halftime the champions already had an advantage of three goals in their favour. Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice for the Old Lady, while Leonardo Bonucci added one more for Juve. Ignacio Pussetto’s goal for Udinese in the 94th minute didn’t change anything.

Cristiano Ronaldo has 9 goals in the Serie A already, but the Portuguese superstar is not even close to the leader in the goalscoring chart Ciro Immobile. Lazio’s striker is above everyone else with 17 goals scored so far in the league.

Sampdoria took a breath of fresh air in the previous round. Claudio Ranieri’s team achieved its fourth win for the season, beating Genoa in the local derby at the Luigi Ferraris. Just five minutes before the end Manolo Gabbiadini scored for Samp and secured them the three points. It was Karol Linetty who provided the decisive assist.

Despite of the win, Sampdoria remain in a difficult position. The club is 16th in the Serie A standings, just two points above the 18th Brescia and the relegation zone. The manager Claudio Ranieri still has some work to do.

Both Sampdoria and Juventus won their previous games in the Serie A, but the champions remain strong favourites in this clash at the Luigi Ferraris, of course. Let’s see if they can take the win here.
