Rosenborg – Sogndal

The champion Rosenborgs hosts Sogndal in a match from the 14th round of the Norway’s Eliteserien.

After a little bit slower start of the new season, Rosenborg are currently 2nd in the league standings. The champions are on level with the current leader Brann, but Brann have a better goal difference at the moment.

Last week Rosenborg were leaders, but their loss during the visit to Haugesund meant that they are going to lose the first place.

As for Sogndal, they are currently 12th after 13 games played. Sogndal are just three points above the relegation zone in the Eliteserien, so they need to continue winning every point possible, if they want to avoid the hard battle for survival.

If we look at the head to head records, we will see that Rosenborg are dominating Sogndal in the last six games between these two teams. Five of these six matches were won by Rosenborg and only one of them ended with a draw – in May 2016.

For the last time Rosenborg and Sogndal met in August 2016 and the match ended with a 3-0 win for the champions.

Arsenal and Juventus’ former striker Niklas Bendtner is Rosenborg’s leading goalscorer since the start of the season. The Danish international have scored 4 goals since the start of the campaign. The same amount of goals is scored by Milan Jevtovic as well.

As for Sogndal, there we could find two players who have scored 5 goals so far – Gilbert Koomson and Martin Ramsland. Most certainly these are the players Rosenborg must be careful about. They can punish any mistake at any time.

Rosenborg are the clear favourite in this clash and it’s completely normal. But have in mind that the champions made a lot of mistakes since the start of the season, so they are not in their best form at the moment.
