Roma – Chievo
After losing the big derby against Juventus in the last round of the Serie A, now Roma do not have any other option, but winning against Chievo at home.
Seven points – this is how much Roma is falling behind Juventus at the moment. Luciano Spalletti’s team must get back to winning ways very quickly, if they want to keep themselves in the battle for the Scudetto.
Chievo is currently holding a place in the middle of the Serie A table. The Flying Donkeys are looking solid enough to not worry about their survival this season. They also won their last two games in the Calcio – against Palermo and Sampdoria, which allowed them to feel even more secure after the first 17 rounds of the league.
Roma will be without the services of Alessandro Florenzi and Konstantinos Manolas, who are out until January. Leando Paredes, Daniele De Rossi and Radja Nainggolan are doubtful for the game, while Abdullahi Nura is once again back in training for Roma.
Chievo’s manager Rolando Maran can’t rely on the injured Massimo Gobbi, while Fabrizio Cacciatore, Lucas Nahuel Castro, Bostjan Cesar, Gennaro Sardo and Andrea Seculin are all doubtful for the game with various injuries.
If we look at the past meetings between the two teams, we will see that Roma is clearly the more dominant team of the two. Chievo have won just three times against the Capital club, while 14 times Roma have been the winner. In 11 cases the game have ended with a draw. If you trust the statistics, then Roma is clearly the big favourite to win this clash, especially with it being played at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
Everything else, but a win for the home team would be a huge surprise, but have in mind that Chievo are also a pretty solid team this season.
