Portugal – Sweden
The Nations League champions Portugal host Sweden in Lisboa in a match from League A’s Group 3 of the competition. In these few paragraphs we are going to preview this game for you. Let’s get to work!
For Portugal the 2020 season of the Nations League is going well so far. Right now Selecao are leaders in Group 3, having the same amount of points with the second France – 7. Portugal are leaders, though – they have a better goal difference compared to Les Bleus.
Two wins and one draw – this is Portugal’s record in the group in the first three rounds. Few days ago they visited France in Paris and won a strategic point with a 0-0 draw. Being the visitors, Portugal were more satisfied with this point compared to France.
Fernando Santos used Joao Felix and Bernardo Silva as partners for Cristiano Ronaldo in attack. Bruno Fernandes, Danilo Pereira and William Carvalho operated in midfield. Santos could be doing some changes, though – Renato Sanches, Diogo Jota and Trincao could be starting on Wednesday.
Sweden are the underdogs in this group and this can be easily proven by the standings. Right now the Scandinavians are 4th in the group with 0 points in the first three rounds. Sweden are surely not really proud with their performance so far.
In their last game Sweden visited Croatia in Zagreb, but suffered a 1-2 defeat at the Maksimir. Marcus Berg scored the only goal for the visitors in this match. And it was not enough for them.
That’s the preview for the Nations League fixture between Portugal and Sweden on Wednesday. We believe Portugal are enormous favourites in this match and they will prove it on the pitch. Selecao are having some terrific players at the moment and there’s a good team chemistry there. For Sweden it’s not going to be easy.
