Monaco – Manchester City
Manchester City and Monaco played one of the best games in the Champions League this season, when the Citizens managed to beat the French team with 5-3 at the Ettihad Stadium in a first 1/8-final match between the two teams.
Now Josep Guardiola’s team is going to travel to Monaco, where they will have to defend their lead and qualify for the 1/4-finals. But this is not going to be an easy task, because Monaco are one of the best teams in Europe this season, being incredibly strong and effective especially at home. Leonardo Jardim’s team scored 84 goals in 29 Ligue 1 games, which is a proof that they are almost unstoppable this season.
Manchester City on the other hand are almost defeated in the battle for the Premier League crown, but they still have a chance to finish the season with a trophy or two. And the Champions League is one of these opportunities for Pep Guardiola’s boys.
Manchester City’s captain Vincent Kompany is once again injured for the English team, while Ilkay Gundogan and Gabriel Jesus are most probably out until the end of the season. In their last game, Manchester City beat Middlesbrough and qualified for the 1/2-finals of the FA Cup. David Silva and Sergio Aguero scored the goals for the Citizens.
Monaco achieved their fourth win from their last five Ligue 1 games, beating Bordeaux 2-1 at home. Mbappe Lottin and Joao Moutinho scored for the home team. This was Monaco’s 21th win from 29 games played in the Ligue 1 since the beginning of the season.
This is going to be a really exciting game between two very good team. We saw in the first leg that they are able to offer a really good show to the fans, so let’s if this is going to happen again.
