Milan welcomes Lazio

It’s time for another exciting derby in the Italian Serie A, because on Sunday Milan welcomes Lazio at the San Siro. After both teams winning their last matches in the Calcio, they will approach this clash in a high mood. Let’s see what’s going on.

Milan’s new manager Stefano Pioli finally enjoyed his first win since his arrival at the team. During the week the Rossoneri hosted SPAL at the San Siro and it was not easy, but they managed to secure a difficult 1-0 win. It was the Spanish ace Suso who scored the winning goal in the game in the middle of the second half. The former Liverpool player started from the bench, but scored the winner after replacing Samu Castillejo after the halftime break.

After this win Milan are now 10th in the Serie A standings with 13 points, which is of course, still not good for the ambition of this club. But for the manager Stefano Pioli it was a relief to record a first win with the Rossoneri from his third attempt. It was Milan’s just fourth win for the season. Clearly Pioli has a lot of work to do in order to fix the situation.

Lazio are doing better so far, currently positioned at 5th place in the Italian league with 18 points won. They are just one point behind their archrivals Roma and the Champions League zone, so the Eagles will have a very good motivation to beat Milan on Sunday.

Simone Inzaghi’s team had some difficulties when the season began, but now Lazio are looking in fine form. In their last five games they are almost flawless – three wins and two draws. Because of this strong run, Lazio are now really close to the their main objective – the Top 4.

In the previous round Lazio recorded their fifth win for the season. The club from the capital hosted Torino at the Olimpico and played one of its best games for the season, winning it with 4-0. Ciro Immobile scored a brace in Salvatore Sirigu’s net, while Francesco Acerbi added one more for Lazio. Torino’s Andrea Belotti scored himself an own goal.

That’s what we had to say about the Serie A game between Milan and Lazio on Sunday. Both teams won their last matches in the league, but if we have to point out the team in a better shape at the moment – it’s Lazio.
