Manchester United faces local rivals Manchester City at the Old Trafford in a second game from the 1/2-finals of the Carabao Cup. One of these two teams is going to reach the final at the Wembley, but let’s see which one.
Manchester United managed to reach the 1/2-finals of the competition after a dramatic 2-0 win over Everton at the Goodison Park in the previous round. Why it was so dramatic? Because United scored both of their goals after the 88th minute of the match. Edinson Cavani opened the score after an assist from Anthony Martial while Martial himself scored the second one in the 96th minute. These two strikes moved United really close to reaching the Carabao Cup final – they need just one more win in order to win.
Few days ago United enjoyed another win in the Premier League as well. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team hosted Aston Villa at the Old Trafford and achieved a 2-1 win. This moved them really close to the top of the league. Anthony Martial scored again while Bruno Fernandes added one more from a penalty kick. The Portuguese midfielder remains one of Manchester United’s most important players.
Manchester City qualified for the Carabao Cup 1/2-finals after beating Arsenal in spectacular fashion during the 1/4-finals. Pep Guardiola’s team paid a visit to the Gunners at the Emirates and went home with a beautiful 4-1 win. At halftime it was 1-1 in the capital, but in the second half City put their foot on the gas pedal and decided the game. Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden and Aymeric Laporte scored for the visitors after the break.
Manchester United and Manchester City are usually offering us nice local derbies between them. This time the stake is high – reaching the Carabao Cup at the Wembley. Let’s see which one of these two Manchester giants is going to reach that goal.
