Manchester City – Arsenal

While some Champions League games are in action on Wednesday, Manchester City will face Arsenal at the Etihad in a pretty good derby from the Premier League. Let’s preview it for few minutes.

Manchester City are just playing to finish the season as they are not in contention for the Premier League title anymore. City’s focus until the end of the campaign remains on the Champions League and the FA Cup, but it doesn’t mean that they wouldn’t want to record some good results in the Prem, too. Right now Guardiola’s team is second with 57 points, being 7 points ahead of the third Leicester City.

The mood in Manchester City’s dressing room is probably not the best one after a bad performance in the derby against Manchester United. The Cityzens didn’t show anything at the Old Trafford on Sunday and conceded a 0-2 defeat. But in reality it doesn’t matter much to them at this point and in the current situation.

Aymeric Laporte and Kevin De Bruyne are the two stars who are sidelined with injuries for Manchester City. It’s a big hit for Guardiola, because he really needs these players in order to win trophies.

For Arsenal’s manager Mikel Arteta it’s going to be a special game. He won the Premier League as Pep Guardiola’s assistant manager in Manchester City, before taking the helm at Arsenal. He surely knows a lot about Pep and this City team, so he should prepare the Gunners pretty well for this challenge at the Etihad.

Arsenal approach this visit to Manchester in a good shape. For a first time this season they won three consecutive games in the Premier League. On Saturday the team hosted West Ham United and enjoyed a 1-0 win.

We guess for Arsenal this match is more important than it is for Manchester City, but we still expect a great Premier League derby on Wednesday.
