Liverpool – Leeds United

The champion Liverpool starts its Premier League season with a great game against one of England’s most historical clubs Leeds United. These two sides will face each other at the Anfield Road on Saturday. Let’s preview it.

Liverpool are looking like the perfect machine, so the manager Jurgen Klopp didn’t make many changes in his squad during the pre-season. The only signing the Reds made is the Greek defender Konstantinos Tsimikas who was signed from Olympiakos. The Premier League champions paid 13 million euro to the Greek club for the 24-years old defender.

At the same time Liverpool said goodbye to the two veterand Dejan Lovren and Adam Lallana. Lovren moved to Russia and signed with Zenit while Lallana remained in England and signed a contract with Brighton & Hove Albion.

You can be sure Liverpool are as motivated as ever to defend their league title. The Reds won the Premier League for a first time in 30 years and they wouldn’t want to wait so much again.

Leeds United finally returned to the Premier League after many seasons in the lower divisions. The main reason for that is the legendary Argentine manager Marcelo Bielsa. He completely changed Leeds’ fortunes and transformed the club in one of the strongest Championship sides. It wasn’t much of a surprise that Leeds got promoted to the Premier League.

Leeds understand how difficult it is in the Premier League so the club made some signings. They paid 30 million euro to Valencia for the striker Rodrigo Moreno, while Wolves’ Helder Costa, Freiburg’s Robin Koch and Lorient’s Illan Meslier also signed with the newcomers. That’s some serious business, so let’s see what will happen in the next few months.

It’s not really a lucky draw for Leeds United to start their Premier League season at the Anfield, but it is what it is, right? Let’s see how the champions will start their season as well.
