Leicester City- Atletico Madrid
Leicester City welcomes Atletico Madrid in a second Champions League 1/4-final at the King Power Stadium in Leicester.
The Foxes are up to a difficult task after they lost the first leg in Spain with 0-1, after a successfully executed penalty by Antoine Griezmann. Now they are in a similar situation just like before the second leg against Sevilla, but with the only difference that now they don’t have the away goal they had against the Europa League winners.
The Brits are aware that even one conceded goal against Atletico could mean that their chances to go through will slim down on a great basis. And on the other hand, scoring an away goal will most probably be one of the main objectives for the away team in this clash.
After reaching the final of the competition twice, but losing, now Atletico Madrid’s biggest goal remains winning the most prestigious trophy in European football. The Rojiblancos already lost their chances to win La Liga, so their biggest goal until the end of the season remains a triumph in the Champions League. Atletico will go “all in” for the trophy, so we should expect to see them as motivated as it could against The Foxes.
It’s clear that Atletico are the big favourite to qualify for the 1/2-finals, especially after the good result they got in the first leg at the Vicente Calderon in Madrid. But in same do not forget that the same could have been said about Sevilla, too, before we saw Jorge Sampaoli’s team crashing at the King Power.
This match could be the last chapter in Leicester City’s incredible fairytale, which included winning the Premier League for a first time in the club’s history. Can they continue this amazing chapter for one more match? We’re about to see.
