Deportivo La Coruna – Real Madrid

After losing the El Classico against Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid are now in a serious danger of losing the fight for the gold medals in La Liga. Zinedine Zidane’s team surrended the top position in the league to Barca, but they still have a game in hand, so don’t be so quick in writing them off.

Of course, if the Los Blancos want to secure their first title since 2012, they have to be flawless in the remaining rounds of the league. And they have to start against Deportivo La Coruna at the Estadio Riazor on Wednesday night.

There was a time of the season, when we all thought that Real Madrid could not be stopped of winning the title this season. But now the defeat against Barca changed a lot of things, so now it’s the time when Zidane’s boys have to really prove that they are the best team in the country.

Deportivo on the other hand are 16th in the La Liga standings, but they are currently 8 points above the 18th Sporting Gijon, so we could say that they are pretty much close to securing their survival.

Real Madrid have serious problems in their defense before the game at the Riazor. The Portuguese international Pepe is still injured, while the captain Sergio Ramos is suspended after the red card he recieved against Barcelona. Raphael Varane is also not 100% fit, so we could say that it’s not an easy situation for Zidane. Gareth Bale is also probably missing the game, after being early subbed in the Classico.

Deportivo can’t rely on the midfielder Pedro Posquera, who is still recovering from injury.

There was a time when Estadio Riazor was a terrible place for Real Madrid, although these times seems to be over now. Anyway, the way Deportivo beat Barcelona just a few rounds ago, should be a red lamp for Zinedine Zidane and his players.
