Bayer Leverkusen – Hamburger
Bayer Leverkusen hosts Hamburger SV in a match from the 6th round of the German Bundesliga. The game is going to be played at the “BayArena” in Leverkusen.
This season most certainly didn’t start in the most successful way for Leverkusen. They have won just one of their five games so far, being 14th in the Bundesliga standings with just 4 points won so far. Their record is one win, one draw and three losses. In their last game Leverkusen lost with 1-2 the visit to Hertha BSC in Berlin.
Leverkusen are usually a club that fights for a Champions League qualification, but with this kind of performance they’d be lucky to qualify for the Europa League. It’s really unexplainable why a team with so many good players perform that bad since the start of the season. If they want to achieve something important until the end of the campaign, they’d need to really improve the way they play. And do it fast.
As for Hamburger, they started the new season with two consecutive wins. But just like you’d expect it from them, these two wins were followed by three consecutive losses. In their last game Hamburger suffered a 0-3 defeat against Borussia Dortmund.
Bayer Leverkusen have problems with two of their players. Lars Bender and Kai Havertz are doubtful for the clash, so their participation here is under a question.
As for Hamburger, the former European champions can’t use the injured Filip Kostic, Aaron Hunt and Nicolai Muller. Doubtful for the trip to Leverkusen are Albin Ekdal, Rick van Drongelen, Pierre-Michael Lasogga and Mats Kohlert.
Can Leverkusen start improving or they will have a really mediocre season? And can Hamburger return to the good football they showed in the first two rounds of the Bundesliga? We shall see.
