Bayer Leverkusen – Bayern Munich
Bayer Leverkusen faces Bayern Munich at the Olympiastadion in Berlin in the big DFB Pokal final for the 2019/20 season. The Bavarians are defending the trophy, but we don’t expect an easy affair for them on Saturday.
Bayer Leverkusen will try to win the DFB Pokal for a second time in their history. Their only trophy so far in the competition came in 1993. They have also lost two finals so far. For Leverkusen the Bundesliga season ended in a dissapointing way as they finished 5th and missed out on another participation in the Champions League. But just in few days they will have the chance to redeem themselves and finish the campaign with a trophy.
Kai Havertz is the player in Leverkusen’s squad everybody is talking about. He’s a terrific talent and this could be his last game for the club. You can be sure that Havertz would like to end his time in Die Werkself with an important trophy. He’s going to be Bayer Leverkusen’s most watched player in the final.
Bayern Munich are defending the trophy. Far from surprising they are the most successful club in the history of the competition as well. And they are the big favourites on Saturday.
Since the season in Germany was restarted after the COVID-19 pandemic, Bayern Munich are just clinical – 10 wins from 10 matches played. The manager Hansi Flick showed to everyone that he’s more than just a caretaker. He won the opportunity to manage the team for the next season as well.
When we talk about Bayern Munich the danger could come from everywhere. Robert Lewandowski is scoring as a madman this season, while players like Muller, Gnabry and Coman are in a very strong shape, too. Right now Bayern are looking unstoppable.
That’s our preview for the DFB Pokal final between Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich on Saturday. Leverkusen are the complete underdog here, but don’t forget it’s a final – a lot of things could happen.
