Barcelona – Villarreal

Barcelona will play their first game for the season when they host Villarreal on Sunday. This is a match from the third round of La Liga and it promises to be an interesting one. Let’s preview it.

With the arrival of Ronald Koeman a new era begins at the Camp Nou. The Dutch manager already started doing some major changes. Veterans like Luis Suarez, Ivan Rakitic, Arturo Vidal and Nelson Semedo already left the club while some other might follow. Koeman is trying to make changes, so the fans are hopeful of something better now compared to the previous season.

Lionel Messi remained at the club and these are the best news for Barcelona. Antoine Griezmann is hoping for a better second season at the club while Ousmane Dembele is working hard to prove himself after suffering injuries. Ansu Fati looks brilliant while the new signing Trincao is looking promising as well. The Portuguese international made some great impression in the friendly matches played so far.

Villarreal won four points in their first two games for the 2020/21 season. Last week Unai Emery’s team hosted Eibar and enjoyed a 2-1 win at the Estadio de la Ceramica. Kike actually opened the score for Eibar, but the Yellow Submarine turned the game around with goals from Gerard Moreno and Paco Alcacer.

So far it looks like Unai Emery is not trusting the summer signing Takefusa Kubo very much. The Japanese talent arrived at Villarreal on loan, but he played from the bench in the first two matches. This is kind of surprising because Kubo is an extraordinary talent.

That’s our preview for the La Liga game between Barcelona and Villarreal on Sunday. The Catalans are hopeful of starting the new season with a win, but it’s never easy against the Yellow Submarine. Let’s see.
