Atletico Madrid – Juventus
Last season these two teams met in the Champions League 1/8-finals. Atletico Madrid won the first fight, but Juventus won the war. Now they are going to meet again in a game from Group D of the competition at the beautiful Wanda Metropolitano. Let’s take a look.
Losing players like Antoine Griezmann, Rodri and Diego Godin can’t be easy, but all three of them left Atletico in the summer. But they got replaced, of course. Now Los Colchoneros have a new star – the teenager Joao Felix, who is showing some impressive qualities since the beginning of the season.
Atletico started the new season in La Liga in a brilliant way, winning all of their first three games in the league. But in the previous round they lost the top, after suffering a 0-2 defeat during the visit to Real Sociedad.
On Wednesday Los Colchoneros will have the chance to show their true face again. Against Real Sociedad the goalkeeper Jan Oblak was substituted with a face injury, but it’s expected that he will be fine to start against Juventus. Most likely Diego Costa and Joao Felix will lead the Spanish team’s attack once again.
Juventus’ new manager Maurizio Sarri will make his debut in the Champions League for the club. Sarri replaced Massimiliano Allegri after the end of the last season, so now he has the task to continue bringing trophies to the club. Of course, the biggest challenge will be winning the Champions League.
Few days ago Sarri and Juventus lost points for a first time this season in the Serie A. The champions visited Fiorentina at the Artemio Franchi and the game ended without any goals being scored – 0-0. After this match Sarri has some problems, because Danilo, Miralem Pjanic and Douglas Costa are all doubtful for the game in Madrid.
It can’t be any other way – we expect another marvelous game between Atletico Madrid and Juventus in the Champions League. Both teams have enough weapons to win this clash, but who will do it?
