Arsenal – Southampton

Arsenal welcomes Southampton in a match from the 33th round of the English Premier League. We are going to present you our view on this clash at the Emirates Stadium in London.

Arsenal are not having the best season in their history, that’s for sure. The Gunners are currently 6th in the league standings and they lost their chances of reaching the Top 4. This means that their only chance of returning to the Champions League is by winning Europa League.

Arsenal have won 51 points so far. They have a record of 15 wins, 6 draws and 10 defeats. In their last five matches Arsene Wenger’s boys lost three consecutive times, but also won twice against Watford and Stoke City.

It’s expected that it’s going to be Arsene Wenger’s last season at the Emirates. The French manager have a contract until 2019, but most of the people are expecting to see him leaving the club at the end of this season.

You can be sure that Wenger would want to end his reign at Arsenal in the best way possible. He will try to win Europa League and he would want to finish the season in the Premier League in the most convincing way that is possible.

Southampton on the other hand continue their fight against relegation. The Saints are currently 18th in the league standings with just 28 points won so far. Their record in the league shows 5 wins, 13 draws and 13 defeats. In their last five games Southampton are without a win – two draws and three losses.

Right now Southampton are two points behind the 17th Crystal Palace, so for them the fight for survival continues. They still have chances, but they must be as consistent as possible until the end of the campaign. Even a point at the Emirates would be good for them.
